Body mass index

Am I overweight or underweight?

The BMI, or body mass index, gives an indication if you are at your ideal weight. This method works for most people.

Muscle is far denser, and is therefore heavier than fat, and this method will incorrectly reflect that a muscular person is overweight.

The BMI classification is calculated by dividing the athletes weight in kilograms by the square of his height in meters.

Enter your weight: Kg

Enter your height: m

What does the BMI tell me?

Less than 20 Underweight
20 - 24.9 'Normal' weight (Grade 0)
25 - 29.9 Overweight (Grade I)
30 - 40 Moderately obese (Grade II)
More than 40 Severely obese (Grade III)
